During the Renaissance Galicia is a pioneer in music publishing, activity which is interrumted during the 17th and 18th centuries, thus hindering the diffusion of our composers. The renaissance songbooks maintain the legacy of the troubadours now in polyphonic format; ecclesiastical music chapels are also organized in the Renaissance, which have a key role in the Modern Age. These music chapels were professional ensembles in the service of the main temples; these music chapels had a teacher responsible for leading, teaching and composing polyphony, singers, instrumentalists and choirboys, mainly as learners.
